I actually got to know Wilma not in high school, but during an encounter that lasted a few days during the last year of her life. She was stoic and a realist, she was determined to fight and accepted whatever the consequences would be, she lived it with her head up. Wilma, God bless you! You were certainly a handful in refreshing sort of way. Rest in peace.
When I think about Wilma I see her laughing and smiling. She was one of the happiest and friendliest people I've ever known. I'll always remember her that way.
